What Are Breakthroughs?

Lots of companies claim they have breakthroughs. In order to be clear, GE has established a very precise definition. Breakthroughs are technical advances that:

  • Solve a clinically relevant problem
  • Address a wide range of clinical applications
  • Are demonstrable in images

It is not enough to simply have a new microprocessor, or a new technology name. In order to be a breakthrough, the innovation must solve an identifiable clinical problem.

Annual Breakthroughs

One breakthrough in ultrasound every year. That's how GE is setting new standards in ultrasound image quality. The LOGIQ® family applies these breakthroughs to provide unsurpassed clinical performance, and enhanced productivity across the entire LOGIQ product line.

Clinical Partnerships

Clinical Partnerships

Breakthroughs are developed in collaberation with the clinical community. As GE develops breakthrough technologies, they become available to our clinical partners. They, in turn, determine the clinical value of these advances and help us to fill the funnel of ideas for the follow years' breakthroughs.

What Is Migration?

Breakthroughs are the heart of the GE Ultrasound technology strategy, and migration is the method we use to bring breakthrough clinical advances to all users of ultrasound. The strategy is to take the Breakthrough concepts developed on the LOGIQ 700 EXPERT Series and transfer them to the other products in the LOGIQ family. Micron Imaging, for instance was developed on the LOGIQ 700 and is now available on the LOGIQ 400 and 500. Wide band transducer technology has migrated throughout the product line. (See chart below for other examples.) In this way, users at every price point in ultrasound can benefit from the breakthroughs developed at the leading edge of ultrasound.
